A large wooden hand carved and hand painted teaching aid botanical model of

Ravenala Madagascariensis, commonly known as the traveller’s palm, although it belongs to the banana plant family.

Circa 1930, each leaf stalk has a small numbered paper label, and is detachable, except for the top one which has been glued, perhaps missing its peg…

Hugely decorative and probably quite a rare example, standing just under a meter high.
