Description

A gorgeous sparkling 19th century swallow brooch studded with old-cut diamond pastes and a ruby red eye.

In Victorian England a flying swallow was traditionally considered a token of good luck and the bird represented enduring love and loyalty, as the swallow mates for life.

The brooch is marked 925 (sterling silver) on the reverse.

In excellent antique condition. The locking rollover clasp may be a replacement for an earlier C clasp.

Size: approximately 6 x 3cm.
