We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency library writing table is an English flat-topped desk produced roughly between 1811 and 1830. Designed for private libraries and study rooms, these tables typically feature symmetrical proportions, exotic timber veneers, and end-support or trestle-style bases.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency period predominantly utilized imported exotic hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and zebrawood. Construction techniques featured dovetailed drawer joints, solid wood substructures, hand-carved mouldings, and occasional brass beaded trim or castors.

Authentic Regency writing tables exhibit specific characteristics including classical proportions, hand-sawn veneer thickness, original brass hardware or beaded edging, and period-appropriate wear on the base and feet. Examination of undersides often reveals hand-planed secondary woods such as pine or oak.

A Regency writing table can serve as a functional home office desk, a focal console in a wide hallway, or a sofa table in a modern living space. Combining the dark timber grain with contemporary table lamps and minimalist seating creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Preserve antique rosewood by placing it away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent drying or veneer lifting. Clean surfaces with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax paste twice yearly to nourish the wood and maintain its natural patina.
