A very nice example of a mid 18thc brass and iron straining ladle....straight out of the 18thc manor / farmhouse kitchen....it has a blacksmith made forged iron long handle with a hole in one end for hanging it up....and then it was given to the brazier to make and join the bowl to the handle...... the bowl is made from sheet brass, shaped and then seven holes have been punched into the base of the bowl for straining the liquid,.... but look closely, where the brazier has made a mistake and put the hole for the copper rivet, that joins the bowl to the handle too far to one edge and has had to punch another hole, so he can join the handle to the bowl....I bet that pleased him....all part of its history...! .....in very good condition.

English. C1760-80.
