A fine 17thc English bronze mortar, from the reign of Charles 11, decorated twice with a rare motif of a crowned double-headed eagle ....which is illustrated in Michael Finlay''s book on English Decorated Bronze Mortars on page 78 illustration 123....he lists it as coming from a London ''unidentified'' foundry .... the mortar is in excellent condition with a good colour.
