Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III dressing and side tables from the late 18th century typically feature symmetrical proportions, tapered legs, and decorative boxwood or satinwood stringing. Many incorporate central kneehole arches, shallow drawers, and raised gallery backs designed for utility and understated elegance.

Cabinetmakers during the George III period predominantly used solid and veneered Cuban or West Indian mahogany for its stability and rich grain pattern. Secondary timbers like pine and oak were utilised for drawer linings, while boxwood, ebony, and brass were applied for inlays and handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joints in drawers, and genuine age-related shrinkage in solid panels. Secondary timbers display natural patination and oxidisation, while original brass hardware shows subtle irregularities consistent with period craftsmanship.

A Georgian dressing table functions effectively as a compact home office desk, a hallway console table, or a bedroom vanity unit. Pairing dark mahogany timber with neutral walls and modern lighting highlights the warm wood tones and classical silhouette.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year to nourish the wood finish. Position the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage, veneer lifting, or wood bleaching.
