As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this quite charming Meiji Period 1868-1912 okimono, depicting a striding bear, the well cast and finely chiseled creature is in this instance signed by the highly regarded Akasofu Gyokko, an artist well recorded as producing figural groups, particularly Samurai on wooden stands, as well as fine quality bronze birds on naturalistic bases.
