A very fine Chamberlain Worcester tureen and cover c.1815-1820 made for Charles Douglas, 6th Marquess of Queensberry, KT (March 1777 – 3 December 1837). Decorated in in pattern 298 imari style of the Yeo service, the Queensberry crest at the front with a coronet and a crown, a heart and two wings, with the word 'FORWARD' in a ribbon.

Chamberlain Worcester was established in the late eighteenth century by Robert Chamberlain after leaving the Flight Worcester factory. The company gained prestigious patronage by producing elaborate porcelain services adorned with hand-painted armorial crests for aristocratic families during the Regency period.

These tureens were made from soft-paste or hybrid bone china bodies, decorated with hand-applied overglaze enamels and burnished liquid mercury gilding. The lids and bodies were molded and fired multiple times to fix the intense cobalt blues, iron reds, and gold leaf detail.

Authentic pieces often feature red or purple script marks under the base, such as Chamberlains Worcester, along with detailed hand enamelling rather than modern transfer prints. Examination under magnification reveals hand-painted brushstrokes, wear on the unglazed foot rim, and characteristic gilding weight.
