Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Rococo porcelain boudoir clock is a small, decorative timepiece featuring an ornate porcelain casing decorated with rocaille scrollwork, shell motifs, and hand-painted details. Popularised in 18th and 19th-century France, these clocks were specifically designed for intimate domestic spaces such as bedrooms or private sitting rooms.

French porcelain clocks typically feature hard-paste or soft-paste porcelain casings adorned with hand-painted enamel and gilded accents. The clock movements are constructed from brass and steel, often housed behind a cast brass or gilt bronze bezel with an enamel dial.

Authentic pieces generally display hand-painted floral or figural vignettes, subtle gilding wear consistent with age, and hand-painted Roman or Arabic numerals on an enamel face. Stamped maker marks, serial numbers, or Parisian foundry marks on the rear brass movement also indicate authenticity.

Place the timepiece centrally on a fireplace mantelpiece, dressing table, or hallway console to create a focused decorative accent. Pairing the ornate ceramic form with modern minimalist backdrop surfaces creates an effective visual contrast.

Dust the porcelain casing gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth or soft-bristled brush. Avoid using water, detergents, or abrasive polishes on areas with gilded accents, and ensure the mechanical movement is serviced periodically by a qualified horologist.
