Curious Antiques has dated this Bronze Portrait Relief Plaque to the 19th Century.
I was told it was an American piece with civil war connections when I purchased it and clearly 1856 was a significant point in US history. It is signed by the artist J Lavergne who was a noted French artist who specialised in bronzes. The bronze has taken on great colour/patina and is in good original antique condition. There is a very small loss on the edge but it is tiny and a hole at the top to enable it to be hung. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view the item or have any questions.
