Rare Primitive Irish Hedge/famine Chair

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Blue Boar Antiques

A delightfully rare and primitive 19th century Irish ash hedge or famine chair, of traditional vernacular form, 74cm high, 54cm wide. The seat is 41cm wide and 34cm deep and has a wonderful golden patina. There are some signs of old wood worm on the underside of the seat, which has all been treated as a precaution. There is also some signs of age, various small knocks and marks as can be expected for its age, but nothing detrimental. It has been lightly cleaned and is ready for use.
