Capodimonte porcelain is porcelain created by the Capodimonte porcelain manufactory, which was established in Naples, Italy, in 1743. Capodimonte porcelain was made in direct emulation of Meissen porcelain. Capodimonte is famous for its moulded figurines and its decorative modelled flowers applied to cups and vases.

The Capodimonte porcelain tradition endured thanks to the creativity of the Neapolitan artists. During the second half of the 19th century, the first handicraft factories were created. They were all family-managed. In 1867, Alfonso Majello, knighted "Cavaliere del Lavoro", founded the Majellofactory, which continues to produce Capodimonte porcelain.

In 2012 the first e-store of Capodimonte Porcelain is founded by Vincenzo Castaldo through "Capodimonte's Finest".

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Capodimonte porcelain produced in 19th-century Naples is characterised by high-relief moulded classical figures, mythological scenes, polychrome enamelling, and gilded accents inspired by Neoclassical design.

These vessels were formed using hard-paste or soft-paste porcelain, finished with hand-applied coloured enamel glazes and accent gilding, often mounted on brass or bronzed porcelain bases.

Authentic pieces typically feature a mark such as the N with a crown in blue or gold, crisp high-relief sculptural detail, and hand-applied enamel decoration rather than modern transfer prints.

Classical urns function as focal points when placed atop a mantelpiece, sideboard, or architectural pedestal, contrasting effectively with minimalist backgrounds or modern wooden furniture.

Dust the surface gently with a dry, soft-bristled brush to clean intricate relief work, avoiding water immersion, abrasive chemical cleaners, or friction over gilded areas.
