The overall design of this antique bookcase is reminiscent of the Arts & Crafts Movement. It was constructed from brown oak at the turn of the 20th Century. The timber appears to have been chosen for its distinctive and decorative medullary rays and warm tones. The bookcase is in good original condition and has been sensitively restored. The drop handle that opens the bookcase''s lockable cupboard door (shelf inside) is also original. Two of the main shelves can be easily raised or lowered to accommodate different sizes of books or objects. Its previous owner was without doubt a book lover - Culvertons were lucky enough to be invited to purchase not just this nice example, but also another eleven pre-war bookcases from the same unaltered Edwardian South London property.
Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcelled and securely sent by the carrier.
We strive to accurately describe and illustrate our stock on the 'Selling Antiques' website. However, we understand that it is not always possible to judge from photographs how an item will look in the home or garden. For this reason, if notified within seven days from the date of delivery we offer a full refund (less any agreed carriage costs) once the item has been returned in the same condition as it left our premises.
