19th C Gothic Decorated Jug

Description

A 19th Century Jug.

The jug with a broad spout from the outswept rim, decorated in relief hanging Gothic tracery centred by classical masks. The octagonal body of Gothic tracery rising to finials over lancet panels, as the body chamfers into an octagonal foot, likewise with Gothic decoration. The jug mounted with a leaf decorated handle, topped with a classical mask. The underside of the jug with a Royal coat of arms and impressed 'Registered March 17th 1842, by Charles Meigh, Hanley'.

Date circa 1842.

Height 8 1/2 inches, 21cm.

Width 6 3/4 inches, 17cm.
