Leone of Aylesbury Banjo Wheel Barometer

19th century
Description

A William IV period mercury wheel barometer. A slim mahogany case of good proportions with a swan neck top pediment and original central bone finial. Choice flame mahogany veneers and case edge banding. Silvered dials to the hygrometer, thermometer and level. A well engraved main dial with a windmill and cottage scene. Signed to the level 'John Leone Aylesbury'. Circa 1835.

John Leone is recorded in Banfields 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working from 1830-1850.
