Antique Waltham Bartlett half hunter pocket watch, 1924.

The watch has a good quality P S Bartlett grade stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has a 17 jewel movement with beautifully patterned plates, a Church 1892 patent regulator and a Breguet hairspring for enhanced precision. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 24610977 which dates it back to 1924. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The Bartlett grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.

This particular watch measures 50.6mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model from the English watch case maker Aaron Dennison. Dennisons made most of the cases for Waltham UK. The case is in good condition, just general light marking but nothing serious at all.

The outer lens has light surface marking to the centre although nice to have the original.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition. Blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
