Antique silver English silver pocket watch, Errington.1903

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has screw set jewels and is numbered 22183, it is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1903, together with a maker’s mark for Charles Errington. The case has an engine turned back with a vacant cartouche. The case has light wear to thee engine turned back but overall it is in nice condition for a 1900s piece.

The Errington Watch Company was set up in the 1880s and subsequently bought by the Coventry watch maker H Williamson around 1896. Charles Errington continued to work for the business until his retirement in 1910.

The acrylic lens is in nice condition.

The dial has several very faint hairline cracks to the outer edge between 2 & 3 although not noticeable to the naked eye.

The watch has its original blued steel hands.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
