Art Nouveau patinated bronze figure Phryne - Pierre Etienne Daniel Campagne. A finely detailed and well cast figure of a naked woman with drapery in her arms and on her shoulders. The figure stands on a bronze base and is signed Campagne to one side and has a plaque to the front Phyrne Devant ses Juges par Compagne Sculpt. Phryne was a 4th century Greek courtesan who was renowned for her beauty When accused of blasphemy (a capital charge), she was defended by the orator Hyperides.
