Mother of Pearl cartouche and escutcheon complemented by pierced Mother of Pearl roundels to the corners connected with strips of pewter. The lid closes perfectly square. Original brass hinges and lock with a replacement working key supplied. The box interior has been refurbished to a high standard. Clearly whoever did the refurbishment has good taste, an eye for the finishing touch and had practicality for modern day use in mind. Please note the 17 sections to the tray, ideal for those smaller items of jewellery. The central 3 lids have silk tops with ornate gilt ring pulls. Nice finishing touches of the silk covered edging of the tray and all dividers to complement the ruched silk panel within a silk covered frame to the lid interior and the central lidded section with gilt ring pull knob to the tray. Metal side handles on the tray to assist accessing the storage section beneath that features a lightly padded silk covered base.
