Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A barograph is a recording barometer that continuously logs atmospheric pressure onto a paper chart wrapped around a clockwork-driven drum. Invented in the 19th century, these scientific instruments gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian era for weather prediction in homes and maritime settings.

Late Victorian barographs typically feature a vacuum capsule mechanism made of brass or beryllium copper housed under a glazed wooden hood, often constructed from solid walnut or mahogany with a built-in drawer for storing paper charts.

Authentic 19th-century barographs feature aged brass components with natural patination, original bevelled glass panes, and clockwork drum mechanisms stamped with maker marks or serial numbers. The woodwork demonstrates period joinery and natural wear around the base and drawer.

An antique barograph works exceptionally well as a functional desk accent or styled on a study bookshelf alongside leather-bound volumes and brass accessories. Placing it on a console table or sideboard adds a refined focal point of scientific interest to classic or contemporary interiors.

Keep the instrument away from direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and heat sources to prevent the walnut case from warping. Clean the brass components gently with a dry microfibre cloth without using harsh chemical polishes, and handle the delicate pen arm with care.
