Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
This is a very large oval cut amethyst set in 15CT gold and with a seed pearl set border.
The gold with double millgrain borders between which the seed pearls are set. The reverse of the brooch stamped Murrle Bennet and 15CT with a simple pin clasp which is original.

An extremely pretty and charming 19th century brooch in excellent original condition. The seed pearls are original and are inset in cream with five in the less common silver grey – intentionally set as a configuration of 4 and 1 – so perhaps made to commemorate a 41st birthday.
