A Fabulous Late Victorian Silver Mounted Claret Jug

A fabulous late Victorian silver mounted claret jug of large capacity. The hallmarked silver mount and glass body of this stylish piece are both elegant and understated. The domed, hinged lid has attractive bead decoration to the rim and is mounted with a lovely cast thumb grip to the top. The bead decoration is repeated to the pouring lip, collar and lower support loop, which also features stipple engraving. The shaped handle is fluted, finished with scrolls and is attached to the support loop at the base. The glass body is globe and shaft in shape with a wonderful multi point cut star to the base. An excellent piece, both usable and decorative. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no chips or cracks to the glass and no dents or splits to the silver. There are a couple of minor blemishes to the collar, commensurate with age and use.
