Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century British watercolour genre paintings often depicted historical, military, or romanticised domestic scenes characterised by fluid brushwork and layered washes. Artists frequently referenced 18th-century costumes and noble pastimes to appeal to contemporary Victorian collectors.

Works from this period were typically executed using water-soluble pigments on heavy rag paper. Artists employed techniques such as transparent washes, bodycolour highlights, and precise graphite sketching prior to applying paint.

Authentic pieces generally display age-appropriate paper tone, original artist signatures or monograms, and visible graphite underdrawing. Inspection under magnification often reveals natural pigment dispersion rather than modern mechanical printing dot patterns.

Hang framed period artworks within a curated gallery wall or mount them individually in a minimal oak or gilt frame above a console table or mantle piece. The classical subject matter provides historical context when paired with clean-lined modern furnishings.

Display watercolours away from direct sunlight and high-intensity artificial light to prevent the fading of sensitive pigments. Frame the artwork using acid-free mounting materials and UV-protective glass, ensuring stable humidity levels within the room.
