Art Deco Iconic Glass Table Lamp by Karl Palda, C1930

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Art Deco World
Description

For your consideration is this fabulously iconic looking Art Deco table lamp. The body of the lamp is actually a decanter that had a damaged neck and has been cleverly converted to a table lamp. We've added a shade which you can choose to use or not. It's completely re-wired, however it doesn't have English plug but European one so you'll need to change this or get a travel adaptor. The main body of the lamp is glass and it sits on a black lacquered plinth. The sides of the decanter also have polished brass embellishments, making it very unusual. Choice of two shades shown, only one is offered in this sale so let us know your preference.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco lighting from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by bold geometric shapes, angular forms, and dramatic contrast, often incorporating frosted, acid-etched, or enamelled glass combined with sleek metal fittings.

Lamps from this era commonly featured heavy crystal or mould-blown glass decorated with black enamel, frosted geometric panels, and stained or cut accents, mounted on metal fittings such as brass or chromed steel.

Authentic period pieces usually show age-appropriate wear to the surface enamel, period-correct wiring apertures, hand-finished glass edges, and characteristic geometric proportions typical of 1930s European glassworks.

Position the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, polished marble console, or bedside table to allow the geometric silhouette and optical glass details to create a stark visual contrast against contemporary backdrops.

Clean the glass base using a soft dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or liquid immersion that could compromise surface enamel, painted details, or original fittings.
