Here is a stunning antique Japanese marquetry jewellery box or collectors chest, c1900, with a beautifully lacquered interior as shown! The inlay is all hand cut, and just as beautiful as can be! The delightful chest features beautiful geometric marquetry work in various contrasting precious woods throughout. It opens to reveal a black lacquer interior, with a gold lacquer design to the underside of the lid. Lock and key in good order. The interior has removable covers to two sections, a small removable box and the entire top layer can be lifted out to reveal a recess below.It measures 14.0'' wide, 10.0'' deep and 6.0'' tall. It is in very good overall condition as you can see in the photographs, the odd area of wear consistent with age.
