Description

MUSEUM-QUALITY 19thc BRONZE FIGURAL 3-PIECE GARNITURE CLOCK Alfred Louis Habert
Brief Description:
This is a truly exceptional Museum-quality original 19th-century French Gilt Bronze Figural 3-piece Garniture Clock Set.
The immaculate French Third Republic period timepiece is mounted with exceptional quality gilt-bronze mounts, together with a magnificent solid bronze figural lady that is signed by the renowned and famous French Sculpturer Alfred Louis Habert (1824-1893).
The elegant female bronze is poised and seated upon a chair, seemingly in deep thought with a small flower in one hand. The piece is original to the clock and it is signed 'Habert'.
The whole of which is made from exceptionally polished slate, the central clock case in the form of a fluted column.
The white enamel clock dial is signed VILAIN DUBOIS BOURGES, with Roman numerals and an outer minute track, the eight-day French movement striking on a bell and numbered 12723.
The whole is flanked by superb gilt bronze Urns with twin bronze female mask handles, the covers surmounted by Classical standing bronze female figures, on corresponding column bases.
This outstanding piece is immaculate and it is one of the finest examples we have encountered.
The timepiece works beautifully and the original pendulum and a working key are present.
