Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Masons Ironstone china is a durable vitreous ceramic patented in 1813 by Charles James Mason in Staffordshire, England. Designed as a robust alternative to imported Chinese porcelain, it frequently features orientalist and Imari-inspired patterns with vibrant colours and gilded detailing.

Ironstone china is produced from a dense mixture containing furnace slag, ground flint, feldspar, and clay, fired at high temperatures. This combination produces a heavy, durable, opaque ceramic body finished with clear glaze and enamel decoration.

Authentic items generally bear printed or impressed maker marks on the base, such as Masons Patent Ironstone China. They display a heavy weight, clear glaze over transfer prints, and hand-applied enamel highlights in characteristic cobalt blue and iron-red palettes.

Ironstone plates can be mounted on a dining room or hallway wall using wire hangers to create a structured gallery display. Alternatively, they can be displayed on a traditional wooden dresser or arranged on open shelving.

Hand wash ironstone ceramics in warm water using a mild liquid detergent and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners, soaking items with glaze crazing, or washing in a dishwasher, as high heat and harsh chemicals damage surface gilding and enamel.
