Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Masons Ironstone was patented in 1813 by Charles James Mason in Staffordshire, England, as a durable alternative to imported porcelain. It gained immense popularity during the nineteenth century for its strength, heavy body, and vibrant Imari-inspired hand-decorated patterns.

Ironstone is a vitreous earthenware made from clay, ground flint, feldspar, and ironstone slag, fired at high temperatures to produce a dense body. The decoration typically involved transfer-printed outlines enriched with hand-painted overglaze enamel colors and gold leaf gilding.

Authentic pieces feature impressed or printed backstamps containing the maker name, often incorporating a crown device. The fabric is heavy with a smooth, cool surface texture and crisp rim molding accompanying hand-applied enamel highlights.

These colourful ceramic plates can be arranged as a structured wall gallery to create a focal feature in a dining room or kitchen. They also function well displayed individually on plate stands, open shelving, or inside traditional glazed display cabinets.

Wash ironstone ceramics by hand using warm water and neutral detergent, avoiding abrasive pads or mechanical dishwashers. To preserve original overglaze gilding and enamels, prevent prolonged soaking and place soft separators between stacked items.
