Superb antique wood ‘Cave a Liqueur’, drinks box. This French, ‘Cave a Liqueur’ or drinks caddy, is slightly larger than the standard size, with a hinged lid and doors. The main ebonized body of the box is decorated with beautiful gilt wood relief panels. The one on the top surface depicts cherubs sitting upon a ram set within an oval medallion, the front has a cameo of a lady held by two cherubs and the side ones are decorated with naturalistic forms.
The doors open to reveal 4 x gilded crystal decanters with stoppers, plus 16 x gilded stem glasses, set within a removable caddy. Standing on 4 x round bun feet. Complete with original working lock and key.
