Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian corner cupboards were crafted between 1714 and 1830, designed to utilise empty space in dining rooms and parlours. They often feature bow-front or flat-front construction, moulded cornices, and high-quality timber such as Cuban or Honduras mahogany.

The primary exterior timber was solid or veneered mahogany, prized for its strength and deep colour. Secondary woods inside the cabinet usually included pine or oak, fitted with cast brass H-hinges and decorative escutcheons.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn backboards, hand-cut dovetail or mortise and tenon joinery, and uneven timber shrinkage over time. The hardware should show natural surface oxidisation and hand-punched screw threads.

Positioning a mahogany corner cupboard in an underutilised room corner adds vertical interest and functional storage. Pairing dark mahogany with light modern paint finishes creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and contemporary styling.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and high humidity fluctuations to prevent wood movement and veneer lifting.
