A fine example of an early 17thc Charles 1 oak table box , sometimes known as bible boxes, but as you can see from this fine piece, that it has been used for writing with the customary ink stains and sealing wax marks...it is in very good condition, I particularly like the handmade iron hinges and lock, both an early feature and the wonderful colour the box has gone from hundreds of years of careful use.
