This is an exceptionally fine quality and fastidiously detailed original late 19th-century Monotone Pen & Ink Propriety drawing depicting a bustling Brighton Beach during the Victorian era.
 
The all-original and immaculately presented work was executed by the renowned listed German artist Themistokles Von Eckenbrecher (1842-1921).
 
The exquisite image portrays a very busy Brighton beach, with many fishing trawlers and travelling folks who are enjoying the day with family and friends.
 
In the distance, large Victorian buildings and the old Brighton Pier can be seen.
 
The attention to detail throughout this relatively small drawing is quite exceptional and it appears to show something new each time it is viewed.

Artist Biography:
 
Themistokles von Eckenbrecher (1842-1921) The German landscape and marine painter was born in 1842 in Athens. As the son of a naval officer, he grew up in various locations, including Athens, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Constantinople and Potsdam.
 
In Düsseldorf, he received private lessons in painting from the famous landscape painter Oswald Achenbach, who influenced him greatly. Eckenbrecher travelled to many parts of Europe, especially Norway and the Middle East as well as Africa and the Philippines. All these impressions result in the motifs of his paintings.
