Description

After further investigation we have concluded that these unusual items are most likely nurses buckles.

The hook at the top would loop over and around a button and the buckles would attach to fabric. As they are silver they would have been safe to wear in an operating theatre and would have had antibacterial qualities. The chains move through the buckle ends so giving some movement as the body moves.

Engraved with the owners initials (we believe she was a nurse) Cross keys date of 16th November 1858. They were given as a gift from BGL.

No silver marks but tested as silver. Great quality and condition.
