Signed oil on Canvas mounted on board by the Belgium artist René Hulstaert (1903 - 1988). The painting is mounted in an attractive recent Montparnasse style frame. The painting is unsigned but comes from a large collection of the artists work, some signed and other not. Many were signed on the rear of the canvas. The painting shows a view of a street and has a nice muted palette. The painting dates from around 1933 - 1945.
Born in 1903, René Hulstaert''s creative work was largely influenced by the 1920s. He was part of the Liege school of landscape painters and was widely exhibited. The 1920s and 1930s saw continued development and evolution of the key innovations of the primary years of the twentieth century.
