Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pine bedding chests, frequently referred to as blanket boxes or coffers, were widely produced throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to store household linens, blankets, and clothing. Placed in bedrooms or living quarters, these utilitarian items kept textiles clean, organized, and protected from pests.

Traditional pine chests were constructed using hand-cut dovetail joints at the corners to ensure structural strength. Features often included solid pine boards, iron hinges, keyhole escutcheons, and bracket or plinth feet designed to raise the body off damp floorboards.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetailing with subtle irregularities, original iron or brass hardware, and natural timber shrinkage around the lid or base panels. Look for genuine wear around keyhole areas and bracket feet, along with historic tool marks on unfinished interior surfaces.

A pine coffer serves well at the foot of a bed for spare bedding or in a living space as a rustic coffee table with internal storage. The light tone of natural pine complements neutral colour palettes, country interiors, and contemporary spaces seeking textured wooden accents.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent timber warping and shrinkage.
