Rue des Fontenelles has dated this piece to the 1930s.
Many were signed on the rear of the canvas. The shows a view of a village with a working horse in the foreground. The painting dates from around 1933 - 1945.

Born in 1903, René Hulstaert's creative work was largely influenced by the 1920s. He was part pf the Liege School of landscape artists and was well exhibited. The 1920s and 1930s saw continued development and evolution of the key innovations of the primary years of the twentieth century.
