For collectors of needlework tools Palais Royale examples are highly sought after.
It had a variety of uses and in the 18th Century became a place of recreation, housing a circus, wax works, gaming houses, cafes and brothels as well as galleries and shops selling only the finest wares. In the early 19th century it was the fashionable place to be seen and some of the most desirable needlework tools for which the Palais Royal is famous were made in this period.
