Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Wooden Medicine Figure Statue c.1750

Interesting Chinese carved wood, gilt and lacquer figure of a medicine figure statue made during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) c.1750.

The wooden figure is sitting on a throne, he has on his chest an 'herbal' shield, at his feet is a snake ( one of the twelve animals of

the Chinese zodiac and is symbolised with worship, magical potions and medicine) to the left, and to the right of his feet is a turtle ( one of the four

spiritually endowed creatures which symbolises the universe).
