A Pembroke table is a type of drop-leaf table introduced in the 18th century, named after the Countess of Pembroke who originally commissioned the design. It features two hinged flaps that raise to expand the surface area, alongside a central drawer, designed for light dining, writing, or occasional use.

Georgian Pembroke tables are predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or satinwood, often decorated with delicate marquetry inlays using contrasting fruitwoods. Construction features hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, rule joints on the drop flaps, and hinged wooden fly-rail supports.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of period craftsmanship, including hand-planed wood surfaces, uneven drawer linings with original hand-cut dovetails, and natural oxidisation on unpolished underside surfaces. Original brass castors or wooden caps on tapered legs also indicate period origin.

A Pembroke table functions well as an occasional side table beside a sofa, a compact console in an entryway, or a flexible lamp table in a living room corner. Flaps can remain lowered to conserve floor space or raised to display decorative objects.
