A splendid Dutch walnut marquetry bureau c. 1760. Well constructed in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers onto a solid oak carcas. Decorated throughout with profuse marquetry inlay in various woods , with floral designs and birds. The fall front (lockable, key supplied) opens to reveal a fitted stepped interior with an arrangement of drawers, pigeon holes, a central cupboard as well as a well. The writing surface is fitted with a sumptuous brown leather insert. Beneath is an arrangement of 3 long graduated drawers of pinched-serpentine outline and fitted with original pierced brass handles and escutcheons. All standing on elongated turned front feet in solid walnut. This superb bureau has been sympathetically revived, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. It is offered for sale in wonderful condition, with a rich colour and patina.
