Antique Edwardian 9ct Gold Curb Bracelet With Heart Padlock Dated 1906

A grand antique Edwardian bracelet made up of chunky gold curb links, each stamped “9ct”. They’ve developed a rosy-bronze patina with age and are held securely around the wrist by a safety chain and large heart padlock clasp.
 
Heart padlocks were often gifted to a loved one during a long period of separation. It was a symbol of the couple’s strong love and commitment to one another, reminding the recipient that they may be gone, but their heart will always be with them.
 
It would make a fabulous gift for a loved one and bears the maker’s initials “M.D.” on the back of the padlock along with clear Birmingham hallmarks that date it to 1906.
