Description

An impressive oil on canvas in warm autumn colours by the well listed artist Francesco Pablo de Besperato b.1900. A seasonal landscape depicting maple trees on the edge of a river.
The painting is in excellent condition and is housed in its original frame. Both frame and paint g are in very good order, signed lower right.

"British based artist Francesco Pablo de Besperato 1900-63. De Besperato was a Czech immigrant artist who took refuge in Britain after the rise of Hitler. For 18 years he held the post as Professor of Art at Belgrade Academy and was National Custodian of Antiques in Yugoslavia. He was a close friend of the well-known artists Picasso, Cezanne and Mattise. He fought with the Czech Army in France and was a veteran of four wars".?
