Description

The square setting of this antique ring is set with old European-cut diamonds surrounding a beautifully proportioned cushion-shaped sapphire in a cornflower blue hue. The borders are dotted using the 'millegrain' technique, which jewellers developed at the turn of the 20th century in order to soften the metallic sheen of the new platinum settings. As this ring shows, when combined with the brilliance of the diamonds, the effect is a soft white shimmer – the perfect counterbalance to the cool blues of the central stone.
Place Of Origin: England. Date & Design Period: circa 1910, Edwardian.

Stone composition: Sapphire: 0.50ct (estimated). Length 4.5mm; Width 4.5mm; Depth 3.1mm. Metal Composition: 18ct yellow gold (marked 18CT) and Platinum. Treatment: Unheated/untreated (assessed by our GIA qualified gemologist). The sapphire is likely to be of Sri Lankan origin. Total diamond weight: 0.80ct (estimated). Clarity; VS2/SI1 Colour; G/H. Cut; old- European-cut. Both matching and original to the ring.
Band Size: UK K / US 5.25 Single complimentary re-size available. This ring can easily be re-sized.

Front Head Dimensions: Length 10.2mm; Width 10mm; Height of setting 4mm

Condition and Wear: Excellent - minor wear commensurate with age. All stones secure, safely set in settings with claws fully covering each stone, no damage to the setting. No scratches, cracks or chips to the sapphire or diamonds.
