Here is a wonderfully atmospheric Edwardian still life of Wallflowers in a blue bowl.
Painted in 1905, the picture is signed JCM and dated in the bottom left hand corner, and is presented behind glass in its original gilt gesso frame.
The artist is highly accomplished and has a loose, impressionistic style - you can almost smell the sweet scent of the flowers as they sat in their vase that still afternoon in 1905.
The framed painting measures 66cm across and 45cm high whilst the canvas measures 45cm by 25cm. The painting is in excellent condition, whilst the frame has some minor gesso losses and gentle surface wear consistent with its age - but as I hope the photographs show, this really doesn''t detract from the painting as a whole, and personally I think adds to its charm
