Malvina 1882
A sensitive portrait of Malvina signed, dated 1882 and presented in its original magnificent heavy gilt frame.
Van Landuyt was a Belgian School painter who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He studied under Paul Lauters and in turn he taught Paul Jourdain and Marie Howett between 1868 and 1882.
In 1880 he received the third prize at the Prix de Rome and in 1880 and 1889 got an honourable mention at the annual painting competition of the Royal Academy. In 1884 he took part in l''Exposition Générale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and in 1903 in the triennial Exhibition of Fine Arts in Brussels.
Condition
Craquelure to the paint surface. Small eruption bottom edge. The frame has repairs to the corners and age associated wear.
