This is a fine quality antique English set of six William IV dining chairs, constructed of solid rosewood with cane seat bases, circa 1830, with newly upholstered squab cushions, in excellent condition. These sturdy antique dining chairs are designed with an attractive curved bar back, with a pierced splat below, boasting pierced foliate, floral and scroll carvings, united by shaped, moulded vertical supports. The chair seat bases are designed with cane seat bases, which are all in excellent taut condition, with no holes or damage. The seat frame is raised on deep reeded ring turned front legs, decorated with bull-eye applied motifs above, with sabre legs to the rear. The design of these dining chairs suggests they are “transitional” dining chairs, implying they incorporate design elements from both the Regency and William IV cross-over monarchist period. This set of six William IV dining chairs retain the original polish; therefore, they boast a mellow colour with original patination.
The squab cushions have been new upholstered in herringbone linen-effect duck egg colour upholstery, finished with piped edges and they are extremely comfortable to sit on. The upholstery is in new and clean cond
...ition. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seats in a fabric of your choice. We charge £30 per seat (labour), to recover in a fabric of your choice. All you need to do is choose and supply your material (we can advise how many metres are required).
These six William IV dining chairs, would look good in a traditional or contemporary property; in either a formal setting or for everyday use. They would certainly grace any home or office and are a great investment, as they are extremely functional.
