Antique silver Dreadnought pocket watch by Leal Chatelain & Cie.

The watch has a high grade 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has nicely patterned plates, screw-set jewels and swan neck regulator. It carries the Dreadnought logo, a brand name registered by Leal Chatelain & Cie of La Chaux-de-Fonds and London, in 1906.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Chester 1902. The inner front cover has the engraved date 28.11.1908.

The case has engine turned detail to the front and back, some rubbing from where the watch has sat in a pocket but not too detrimental. The front cover has a small lens surrounded by dark blue enamel filled Roman numerals.

The case has a pin prick “ding” to the front and some unevenness to the back. The cartouche to the back of the watch has the initials IH or HI.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The dial has a very small old repair towards the edge by number 3 but otherwise is in good condition with original blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
