A first period Worcester porcelain coffee cup and saucer with concave vertical fluting well painted with small floral sprays and finished with gilt rims. Blue fretted square mark to the base. c.1765-1768.Reference: Worcester Porcelain: The Zorensky Collection, Spero and Sandon, entries 199 & 200 for examples and a discussion on this uncommon style of factory decoration from the mid 1760.The cup measures 5.6cm (2 1/4'') high and 6.5cm (2 1/2'') rim to rim. The saucer measures 2.3cm (7/8'') high and 11.8cm (4 5/8'') wide.Condition is very good with two small chips to the saucer foot rim and a nick to the reverse of the rim. No repair or restoration. Very minor handling wear mainly just to the gilt on the high points on the cup rim.
