Gouache On Paper Portrait Of A Black Woman - Modern British School C.1950.

A particularly well observed and richly coloured, oil on paper study of a female head in profile. The striking sitter was the subject of a work by
 
celebrated British sculptor Jacob Epstein (1880 - 1959) upon which this portrait is based.
 
This fine, highly decorative and diminutive work is in an excellent state of conservation and is framed under art glass to reduce reflection and aid conservation. It is presented ready to hang in its original wooden frame with gilt highlights.
