Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency dining chairs, produced roughly between 1810 and 1830 in Great Britain, are defined by classical Greco-Roman inspirations, Neoclassical proportions, clean profiles, and rich timber veneers such as rosewood or mahogany. They frequently feature decorative brass stringing, marquetry inlays, sabre or turned fluted legs, and drop-in upholstered seats.

Cabinetmakers of the Regency period primarily utilised dense hardwoods including West Indian mahogany, rosewood, and zebrawood. Decorative accents were executed using sheet brass cut into classical motifs, ebony stringing, and mother-of-pearl, with seats traditionally stuffed with horsehair and covered in woven fabrics or leather.

Authentic Regency brass inlay is hand-fitted flush into cut channels within the wood veneer rather than glued onto the surface. Age marks include subtle brass movement or lift due to timber shrinkage over centuries, hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, and natural patination on unlacquered metal surfaces.

Regency chairs can be integrated into contemporary spaces by pairing them with minimalistic solid wood or glass dining tables. Reupholstering the drop-in seat pads in neutral linen or bold modern fabrics creates a contrast between historic timber craftsmanship and contemporary textiles.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to preserve the wood finish. Avoid metal polishes on brass inlays, as harsh chemicals can dissolve surrounding wood glues and damage delicate veneer edges.
